I need a break from my weekend...

What an insane weekend.

Friday night: I went out with a couple of my good (married) friends. Yeah, the whole 3rd wheel thing messed with me for about the first two crown and cokes but what the hell. I was out and that's what mattered. Our first stop was Vinyl (the old 1082). It was the first time I had been there since a snow storm caved the whole roof in a couple of years ago. When they rebuilt, they actually opened up the roof to the public. We mainly hung out there.

Anyway, after a while, we decided to go to Taboo (located directly above Diamond Cabaret). I guess it was Marcus Camby's birthday or something and all the Denver Nuggets were there. The Bentley(z), the BMW(z) and the Benzos gave it away walking up to the club. Clue #2: I was the shortest guy in the place. :o) Those guys are HUGE! We headed down to Diamond for a bit but ended up going back upstairs for last call.

You'd think that would be the end of it. Heeeeeeeeell no. My friend leans over to me on the way home and says, "hey, Jimmy. You done drinking?". Thinking he knows of a corner bar that stays open a little later than last call, I say, "Bring it.". We park. I look around and I don't see a bar anywhere near us. Now, I've lived in Denver pretty much all my life and I normally find my way around based on what bar the target location is near. I have no clue where he is taking me. We proceed to walk through an unmarked door where a lady sits at a computer. She takes my ID, verifies everything on the ID and enters it into some application on the computer. A bit odd, yes but I really wanted another drink or two. She lets us pass. I walk into what seemed to be an adult version of a slumber party. There were beds everywhere, 4 conjoined hot tubs in the back, a ton of couches and from what I could tell, at least a few massage tables. The place was really nice. Again, a bit odd, but like I said, I really wanted another drink or two. We walk up to the bar and order. "Crown and Coke please.", I say to the nice lady bartender...her back facing me. She turns around and I'll be damned if it wasn't a guy!!!! No sh*t! Dude was in his 50s at the very least, had on a skirt, blouse, makeup, wig and women's shoes. I know I must have had the most startled look on my face. I couldn't speak...it was like a train wreck. I couldn't look away. Now, I'm pretty accepting of different people...I try not to judge or hurt the feelings of other people but for the love...I mean it was a dude dressed like a lady and when you're not expecting that...well...I'm sure as hell sorry but instinct takes over and it was a fight or flight scenario. I turned away and looked at my friend for support. He was laughing his azz off. No help there. I don't even remember taking the drink but I somehow ended up sitting on the couch with it...yes, I seem to have repressed at least 10 minutes of the night because of that one incident. If you haven't figured it out by now, I was in what is commonly called a "swinger club". Now, I've known my friends were freaky from day one and I've heard stories of these types of clubs but I have never personally been in one. And, apparently we caught them on a "slow night" because there were only 15 people there or so. Again, to each their own. These people weren't hurting me or anyone else around them so I say, this is America...be free...even though I know it's not right for me and probably never will be. Moreover, I've always known my friends were freaky and in turn, they know I'm not "into" it.

I digress.

So we're sitting there on the couch and a nice man comes by and introduces himself. We start a conversation with the man and pretty soon my friends and I are talking about something that doesn't involve the man. Hell, I almost forgot he was there. Out of the corner of my eye, I see this chump scoping out my friend's wife and there was movement in his lower region. Yes, dude started going to town on himself! Well, that's about all I could take because I really wanted to knock this guy out. As calmly as I could, I stood up and told my friends it was time to go. I get to their house at about 5 and end up not sleeping all night because I kept picturing that dude dressed like a lady.

Saturday: I helped my friend take his boat to storage and went to a wedding. Scott and Tanya, I don't know if you guys read this but CONGRATS!!! Had a blast by the way! I ate good, drank and danced all night. Scott is somewhat of an idol to me. I mean, this guy waits until he's 40 to get married and reminds me every time I see him that "I'm young and I still have time".

Sunday: Got up early (I don't know how) and went to the lake with Pam, Mand and Larie. I had fun but took a few hard falls because the water was so choppy by the time I got to board. Still fun though. I went home, watched the Broncos whoop up on Jax and started working on landscaping (I swear I'll get that done before Winter hits us).

Today: Just booked our flights to Sacto (again). There's a fat payment milestone attached to this one too. I guess I'll leave next Monday night and stay until the 19th. I'm bringing my board and I'll stay with Trish and B over the weekend. Still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with my pups yet.

I know it was a long post...if you got this far...you have a waaaaaaay better attention span than I do. Contrats and adios!

Shit dude, maybe I should have DOTW start with "The other night I had this dream where......" If I didn't know you better, I would have sworn that was some shut-eye surrealism! Damn!

How was the new Vinyl btw? We briefly considered going there the other night. I can't tell you how much I wish it was still "the old 1082".

ever: Seriously brother! It almost sounds like a dream, huh? That night was insane!!! I'm down with your DOTW by the way. I normally have pretty funky dreams. Vinyl was pretty good. It was pretty yuppy on the roof but the ground floor and the basement rocked! You're totally right about 1082. I loved that place. I used to go there every Tuesday night back in the day. You should have gone. I'll have to remember that for when you're back in town. Oh! Ran into Donnos too. E knows him and Regus (the owner) very well.

manda: I'm glad you got a kick out of that. It was a crazy night fo' sho'! The lake was alright. Everyone boarded before me (I got there late...go figure) so I got crappy water. I can't complain though...at least I was on the water. :o)

angel: Shhanks ya! I'm just me - jimmy - no more, no less. ;o)

Excellent, I'm totally down with that. Although I'd secretly rather hit Sunday night at The Church, but that's not gonna happen. ;)

Cool to hear Regus still owns the club, I thought he might have bowed out. Back in the day when I would have been escorted right back out of the office if I'd walked in there and I was hitting 1082 every Fri, Sat & Sun I was dating a girl that was very good friends with him. If you happen to see him again, ask him how Scottie's doing. I swear, she's a chick.

Oh yeah, and you're hot.

ever: Dude...you made me laugh so hard I'm crying!!! ;o) Hey! Now there's an idea. I haven't been to The Church on a Sunday night in ages. Might have to turn it up this weekend, though I do have to be on a jet plane headed for Sacto that next morning. What the hell though. I'll go and take pics for ya. ;o)

Yeah Regus still owns it. E told me that he bought that club (read: warehouse) for less than 200k back in the day. Insane, huh? E also told me Regus doesn't show up very often. Hell, the last time he saw him out was Mardi Gras like 2 years ago. I'll ask him about Scottie if I see him. Donnos ended up buying us a few rounds and then he disapeared.

Hey, I didn't know if you knew this or not but Corey (at my old work) used to vallet there and knows all of those guys.

I swear, I should have bought a club when I had the chance. It's totally my speed.

Corey F.? No, I had no clue! I used to know a lot of the bar tenders, but never buddied up much with valet folks. Actually, when I was going there, I don't think they had valet.

Does he still own the Roo Bar as well? 200K is INSANE! You're right, the boat has been missed many a time on buying places like that.

Sounds like we're on when I get myself back to Denver!

Yup! Corey F. I actually met him at 1082 first (before I met him at frx) because E would always vallet his truck. I didn't know the bartenders too well at 1082 but I knew D.J. Stevo well and Regus and Donnos so they treated us well. Dead Beat was a different story all together though. Thursdays used to be a $20.00 (max) night for me.

Roo Bar! Now there's a name I haven't heard in awhile. I just talked to E and I guess he still owns it but he thinks it's called something else now.

Dude...I'm all over it! Sounds like a plan!
